Ivan Steinmetz, Director / CFO
Ivan entered the Computer Industry in 1961 as a computer engineer for International Computers Ltd with site responsibility for 5 major installations in Wellington; Ministry of Defence, Wellington Computer Centre, Computer Bureau Ltd, New Zealand Motor Corporation and the Government Computer Centre. He then joined the State Services Commission, Computer Services Division, to establish a Technical Services Centre involved in evaluation and recommendation of comms equipment used by IRD, DSW and the Wanganui Law Enforcement Networks.
Following this Ivan joined Computer Bureau Ltd in 1977 and was a founding member and Director of Datacom Equipment Ltd. The success of this organisation was such that the Holding Company, CBL, adopted its name as the Datacom Group of Companies. Ivan went on to found Modular Computer Systems with Paul McQuinlan in 1986 to fill a growing requirement for personal computers, with parts sourced from Asia assembled and implemented in Wellington. A name change to LANtech Network Specialists came later to better reflect the company’s focus. Ivan is in semi-retirement and continues in the role of CFO.
